I, Anooj Arkatkar, have been a violinist for six and a half years, having begun my musical journey shortly before fifth grade. Since that time I have added the ocarina to my musical ability. My parents perform Indian music professionally, and I am often a part of their concerts; two of which were this summer. For this reason I found myself practicing my instrument at least every other day during the summer for half an hour.
Music is a skill that perseveres through the withering of age, as countless violinists with even more countless wrinkles have proven. From this class I wish to explore learn different styles of music and improve my skills with the violin, as it will accompany me for the rest of my life. I also want to work on my teamwork, as an ensemble can only work with a strong sense of it.
From years passed I have seen working in sections as a very efficient and enjoyable way to better understand a song and would love to see more opportunities to do so.
